Bridgewater, NJ – December 15, 2010 - Dr. William Schaffner, the current President of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) recently addressed pharmacists at a CME/CE symposium presented by Vemco MedEd, NFID, and University of Illinois at Chicago during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition in Anaheim, California. Dr. Schaffner’s Call-to-Action emphasized the critical nature of pneumococcal disease in adults and the importance of adult vaccination. In order to address this crisis, pharmacists, as part of an interprofessional healthcare team must play a key role in pneumococcal disease prevention and treatment.
